A month or so ago, out of curiosity, I checked out who Donald Trump followed on Twitter. The 41 feeds (now 43) were what you’d expect: Trump’s family and properties, his partners in crime like Pence and Conway, and a bunch of Foxbots, such as Laura Ingraham and Eric Bolling. But one person is missing now: Michael Flynn.
Is there any greater sign that he’s been cast out? That Trump is trying to cut all ties with him? That he should be the guy the Senate immunizes and the FBI offers their “get out of jail” free card?
Flynn knows what a losing campaign looks like, he understands how to make a strategic retreat, and he has to feel utterly betrayed by his president. Just as David Wildstein flipped on Christie after the governor said they were never friends, I predict Flynn will remember Oliver North and decide that coming clean early and escaping prison is a better route that what awaits everyone.
