Procrastination is a typically human attribute, why do now what can be done later, especially when it is more profitable to do nothing all.
Shame our biosphere does not behave in the same way, it stockpiles abuse, it gives us warning of such abuse, and the longer this warehousing of problems goes on, the worse the final results will be.
Denial is another typical human attribute. What I do has little effect, just multiply that by a few hundred million times and you begin to see a potential problem.
Delegating responsibility to others another. Look I voted for the "right" people what more do you want, it's not my fault they are procrastinating.
Human nature being what it is especially when it is more profitable in the short term to do nothing at all, needs a push.
The LGBT community, Women's and Civil Rights Movements all know when you stop pushing two things can happen, stagnation and push back. There are always those that will profit from both.
There are two ways in a democracy to change things, one is in the voting boothe the other is by demonstration of will i.e. get out of the house and demand change happens now.
At the moment voting and thereby the production of legislation is benefiting both denial and procrastination for the many reasons we all know, but mainly for short term profit. Some believe it will only change when things get bad enough that they have to, shame the planet doesn't have an on/off switch but has an immensely large turning circle. It has taken many years to get where we are at the moment and will take many years even to just halt climate change let alone reverse it.
So my advice is if you want to change something, show you mean business, get out and tell them "face to face" as it were.
For those on this side of the pond there is
