How to deal with people full stop

How to deal with protests, rather than reach for the pepper spray, water cannon, tear gas or a even a gun.

How to deal with sexual assault and rape.

They have become a paramilitary organization rather than a police force, they need to remember that they are public servants and not mindless enforcers. They are there to protect and serve the public and not to menace with ever more sophisticated tools of war.

Personally I am fed up of reading about police brutality, victim blaming, and downright murder. They need better training and effective discipline, they are part of the community and not its controller.

I am fed up of the blatant bullying, racism, sexism and bigotry shown. Those police officers incapable of changing need to be removed from any contact with the public and preferably the service entirely; since they pollute the entire culture.

No Police service will ever be perfect, but the US system is so far from perfect as to have become an embarrassment. This is not new and it is long past time they changed their attitudes to society and if they cannot, they should be fired. Those that protect other officers should also be assigned other tasks, as they are part of the problem. I do not believe this is just one bad apple but a whole culture, them v us.

They are not the military, local militia or a paramilitary organization they are meant to be a civil police force. In fact they should be more rigorously trained and reviewed than any of our public servants and rewarded accordingly.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

I voted Tuesday, May 6, 2014 because it is my right, my responsibility and because my parents moved from Alabama to Ohio to vote. Unfortunately, the republicons want to turn Ohio into Alabama.

  •  Militarized Cops' "Us vs Them" Mentality (0+ / 0-)

"To Protect & To Serve" themselves -- Criminal Just Us

Pennsylvania state prisons are required to videotape every inmate who gets sent to the "hole" because too many handcuffed inmates were "tripping and falling" down a flight of concrete and/or steel stairs on the way sustaining serious injuries in the process.  Once the videotaping became mandatory, inmates were no longer "tripping and falling" and injuring themselves like they had been prior to the videotaping requirement.

Cops have dashboard cameras in their police cruisers to protect motorists stopped by the violence-prone psychopathiccops, NOT to protect the cops.

Most cops will tell you they work for their commnading officer, NOT the taxpayers -- it's a military chain of command thing.  They should be fired for this attitude because it promotes corruption (Blue Code of Silence).

Alex DeTocqueville said in "Democracy in America" that the authorities rule by superior brute force, NOT superior intellect or superior morality.  Cops are criminal thugs that first resort to violence (knbee jerk reaction) with a total disregard for the consequences to themselves and their victims.
